David worked for a large construction and infrastructure company called
John Laing for over 40 years and retired in 2016.
The John Laing Charitable Trust (JLCT) is open to applications from
employees and pensioners for 'Make a Deference' grants. Grants are
considered based on the relationship between the employee/pensioner
and the organisation concerned.
David's wife, Kay Scott, is a member and regular attendee at the Dementia Active sessions operated in their Banbury centre. Dementia Active aims to build a nationwide network of Dementia Active centres that provide life-enhancing cognitive stimulation and social support.
By working alongside families, carers, and communities, Dementia Active helps people with dementia stay connected, capable, and at home in the world they know and love - for as long as possible.
Dementia Active receives no public funding and relies upon donation and grants. David was pleased to present a cheque for £1000 to Andy Gill, founder and CEO of Dementia Active, from the John Laing Charitable Trust. Andy thanked David and the JLCT and said, “Organisations like JLCT, by making this donation open ‘Dementia Doors’ allowing potential members to attend our 4-hour respite sessions who would otherwise struggle financially. “
